Original art for Gover's patriotic children's book, published by the Greystone Press of New York in 1941. At once propagandistic and playful, the illustration - like the book entire - portrays children of all nationalities singing and playing musical instruments. Once published, the image became intensely and solely American, no doubt to suit the wartime atmosphere. The diverse, rainbow chorus was replaced by an American flag. Some printer's proof marks to margins, tape to rear, else fine.
