Illustrated with twelve wood engravings after drawings by Arthur Gaskin. Printed in black with shoulder notes in red, and with twelve 10-line decorative initial capitals. The Shepheardes Calendar marked the only Kelmscott title illustrated by Gaskin and represents one of the more finely balanced works from the Press. Reviews at the time praised Gaskin for entering "so deeply into (the poem's) spirit that this work is exactly fitted to the verse in the poet's progression from month to month ... There is nothing labored in these designs, and yet nothing hurried." Original linen-backed blue boards show light bumping to corners and a couple of light spots to upper cover, else fine.
