16mo. (29)pp. Illustrations in black, white, and shades of orange by Dan Sayre Grosbeck at each verso, with additional line drawings at facing rectos. Thayer's now-canon poem was first published in 1888, and here nearly three decades later receives its first issuance in hardcover. Despite this sturdier container and the poem's irreducible cult following, the book is quite scarce. Bound in green paper over boards with gilt titling and illustration of a ribboned baseball bat to upper panel. Modest rubs to extremities, else near fine.
